Reflecting after one year…

August 16, 2011

One year ago today Kate, Jude, Ellie and I all woke up in Olympia.  I say we “all woke up in Olympia”, because at the time we were all in the same room.  🙂

What an amazing year of growth and change it has been!

Its hard to believe that this guy… …has grown to become this guy:  This girl (trying her first ice cream)… …has grown to become this girl:

This family…

…has come to look like this (note all five of us):

While the pictures make a pretty strong case for change, I hardly feel they’re the half of it.  I can’t think of a single way in which we haven’t grown this year (yes, that’s a double negative…).

We’ve grown as individuals, as a married couple, as parents, as neighbors, as friends, as followers of Jesus who lead others to follow Jesus and as Olympians–and all of them in concert with one another.

God has been good.  He has provided for us financially, surrounded us relationally, carried us emotionally, protected us physically and shown his goodness in a million other large and small ways.

Again, a huge thank you those whom our life and ministry in Olympia has cost the most: family and friends both near and far.  You have been the hands and feet of God to care for and provided for us through the roller coasters of life!
